Interview with Rico's family

BOBBY: 'Kala mo siya yung ginulpi. Maski yung teacher sabi "kawawa naman si Rico inaway" pero ang totoo siya yung nang-away kaya my mom knew from the very start umaarte lang yan. Kaya alam mo yung mga sakit sakit niya....

GERALDINE: Magaling nga umarte, magsa-sakit-sakitan. Sometimes nasa house lang yan the whole day nasa bed, nakahiga. I'm sure it's just a simple cold and cough but the thing is if you talk to him, if you see him, talagang grabe yung sakit niya pero it's just a simple cold and cough.

MARVIN: Aside from pagiging artista at sa laki ng na-achieve niya, meron pa po ba kayong dreams sana for Rico?

RICO'S DAD: Hindi naman. Basta ang sinasabi niya na pagdating ng araw na when he's done with his career, he always says his degree. That is yung natapos niya na Business Management e ginagamit na rin niya in his business like Tequila Joe's.

DOMINIC: Gusto ko lang tanungin kasi I was the first one who saw him. It didn't sink in. The first one I called was Bobby. What was your first reaction when you heard about it.

RICO'S MOM: I wasn't here. I was in Tanay because I accompanied my father. It was a four hour drive . I said I'll be gone for only 4 hours and I'llbe back. That's when I got the text message. Yung nakalagay lang don was "please rush home, it's an emergency"

MARVIN: Sino po ang nag-text sa inyo non?

RICO'S MOM: My husband, si Robby. Then I said "Oh My". I was so afraid. I called Geraldine. Hindi ka na tinawagan yung husband ko kasi I was so afraid to hear it. I called Geraldine, I said "What's wrong?" Geraldine was crying hindi niya masabi kung sino. sabi ko tell me, tell me. sumisigaw ako. sabi niya "mommy si Rico". "What about Rico". "Walang pulso but he's in the hospital" Then i said "okey" . Then I closed the cellphone. Tapos sabi nung father ko "O ba't hindi mo na tawagan". Sabi ko "Daddy ayaw ko. I don't want." I didn't call anyone for about 20 minutes. And them my father said "Why don't you call?" "Eh daddy ang walang pulso di ba patay na" And then my dad was saying na "no, no, no, hindi, hindi" and then I got again a message from my sisters-in-law, everyone was going to the house. I knew right then that Rico was already dead. Kami ng daddy ko nag-a-akapan kami sa kotse. Tapos umuwi na ko. When I got home, my husband and Bobby were already in the airport.

TINA: I just got home from work . It was morning here when it happened so that was seven in the evening there. I was out ofthe house so when I got home, I saw my machine blinking. I played the message, it was my sister. She just said "Tina call me up immediately, it's urgent." So right there and then my heart was really pounding already. I checked my cellphone. For some reason I also left my cellphone there. I also saw that she called and I missed it. I called her right away and she couldn't talk right away. I said "ate, what's wrong?" she still couldn't talk. I said "what tell me?" She said si Rico. I said what about Rico. And then she said wala na raw pulse. I said what do you mean . And then she couldn't talk anymore. So I asked her "who was he with". She said he was with Dominic and then I said "give me Dominic's number" and then that's when I called you.

MARVIN: Si ate Geraldine actually siya yungnagsabi kay Tina and tita. Paano mo una nalaman?

GERALDINE: It was Gido who was the one who called me. Gido he couldn't talk also. He said "Geraldine something happened here" Why? What happened to Rico? “We brought him to the hospital and there was no pulse". I was getting hysterical already. Basta the doctor said he has no pulse. I didn't know what to do. My husband told me to call Bobby. I called Bobby. I told Bobby that he has no pulse coz' I couldn't say he is not here with us anymore. I asked Bobby what to do. He told me to call up my dad.

BOBBY: Kasi favorite ni ate si Rico. Baby niya si Rico pero favorite din niyang pagalitan kasi mahal na mahal niya. A lot of people who do not know Rico cried. They asked themselves why are they crying. Rico struck a cord to all social classes. He touched people.
