Hi Fellow Rico Fans,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site in Rico's memory. I would like everyone to know that, like you, I have been a long time fan and supporter of Rico. Let me clarify that I am not related to the Yan family and was never lucky enough to met the handsome matinee idol.
I have been inundated with e-mails and I am sorry I have not written back individual e-mails. I work and have family obligations in Tampa, Florida - where I am a reporter for a newspaper. I am half (and very proud of it) Filipino and have visited the lovely Manila several times.
Like many of you, I heard about Rico's death through a phone call from my aunt in Alabang. She called to tell me because I was in Manila for Christmas and New Years and watched Rico on TV there. I was informed before The Filipino Channel here aired the news. Philippines is the text capital of the world and my cousin had received the news via text.
I was upset - my best friend from Orlando said Rico's death could be compared to the sadness and pain we felt when Princess Diana died (and this was coming from a full blooded American with no ties to the Philippines).
I had been meaning to make a site for Rico, but never got around to doing it. How would I get information about him - pictures - facts - data - etc.? After his death I put all my efforts into making a site that all his fans would be proud of. Somewhere we could remember him and give our thoughts on the wonderful man that left this world so soon. I hope everyone likes it.
I have gotten so many e-mails of thanks and I appreciate it so much. So many of you have asked about the foundation and I responded by giving you the address in Manila - I hope your donations reached there. Unfortunately, I do not have any posters or VCD'S of Rico. I usually buy Rico's VCD'S from www.regalfilms.com or www.ebay.com.
Some of you have asked how to send money from the US, England, Canada or Australia. I still think the best way is to send a check to the foundation in Manila. I am so glad that we have continued to support the foundation. The best way to keep Rico alive is through his foundation, actually this is probably the only way to keep him alive now.
I thank all of you again for your kind words about the site. Really, thanks. Remember to say a little prayer for Rico and the Yan family in church this Sunday. They have been though such a tough ordeal. Keep them in your prayers.
